Salone del mobile 2018 - Wonder Crystals is a collection of table ware—glasses, vases, and plates—that play with the visual and kinetic aspect of its materials. Made from crystal, these objects “hide” raw semi-precious and precious stones such as quartzes, emeralds, and pyrites underneath their bases. Although visible through the surface of the objects’ transparent material, it is hard to determine the stone’s relationship with its “mother” object just by looking at it: are they inside or outside? Are they loose or attached? The materiality of the crystal creates a layer between the stone and the beholder thus building distance between the object and its user. Yet the crystal’s transparency makes the stone visible, inviting the user to explore that what stands before her eyes but its no immediately available. Thus, this collection of pieces for the table invites the user to interact with them creating in this way a playful experience from them simple quotidian action of sitting by the dinning table.

Joyas en Casa
Joyas en casa’ which means “Gems at home” is a table ware and bowls collection that bring strong 'sculptural' feelings to everyday objects; with natural stone accents, this designs reflect a jewel quality to them that exceptionally blends with an industrial personality.
Dipping into geometry and ornamental symbolism, the effect is fun and its simplicity appeals to a modern take with evoking hints of craftsmanship and the past. All together, whether forks, spoons, knifes or cups, the pieces are fed by reminiscences of Criados past work in developing her jewelry lines, therefore providing an eclectic mixture that ranges from “bauhausian” to decoratively infused pieces that seem to collide in an aesthetic that speaks perfectly the contemporarylanguage.
Artifact could be overlooked etymologicallyas: from Latin arte ¨by skill¨ + factum ¨made ¨thing made¨ it is ¨anything made by human art¨ the collection can then be read as factual artistic pieces: having aesthetic value in its self, in the parts that make the whole, being developed from just one component resource. Its physicality reflects the exploration of one of the most basic expression resources: line itself.
Form line, follow figures and from there comes compositions that become a geometrical explosion that in some pieces can embody volume, even when thinness plays an important role in an ethereal appreciation. A curve, an edge or corner: this integration of forms, create special visual effects and structures meant to be used in assorted parts of the body: from a rigid bangle, to a necklace or pectoral, 5 assorted big format upper body pieces: work as a framework or some type of armor than can be worn over clothes. This collection strong yet understated and minimal can be interpreted as: objects for the body based on the very fundamentals of design itself.
